... In An Amusement Arcade Far, Far Away...
For gamers of a certain age, Atari's Star Wars was perhaps the most celebrated, sought-after and hard-fought video game arcade around. Its spectacular polygon graphics, high-speed 3D dogfights and rousing score dropped countless schoolkids directly into the cockpit of the iconic X-Wing itself. And now - it's back!
But it's better than ever, with three separate games included for you to play, upgraded stereo speakers and a true arcade-style illuminated marquee. And yes - that awesome flight control yoke remains, albeit a slightly smaller version than the original. Like the Atari arcade of four decades ago, Star Wars Home is a single-player machine only.
Stay On Target
Play Atari games Star Wars (1983) and The Empire Strikes Back (1985), both high-speed, polygon-based 3D shooters where you'll pilot X-Wings, Snowspeeders and even the Millenium Falcon. Also included is Return of the Jedi (1984), a third-person sprite-based speeder bike shooter. Each game is officially licenced and is faithful to the original in every way.
The yoke is modelled on the original Atari yoke, complete with trigger and thumb fire buttons. It gives you precision control over whichever ship you're flying. Use the intuitive game select menu to pick which title you're ready to play, and load it up instantly. Now you can play these iconic games without having to beg Dad for loose change!
Like Shooting Womp Rats Back Home!
Star Wars Home has a slightly different cabinet to most Arcade1Up machines, with a 17-inch monitor sloped at the ideal angle for controlling starfighters. Down-firing speakers recreate the original sound effects, voice samples, and of course that rousing John Williams score. Pop the level up with the useful volume control and you'll have to pinch yourself that you're not back in the seaside arcade in the 1980s.
Original, licenced artwork decorates the whole cabinet, with the illuminated marquee giving that original arcade vibe. A dummy coin door on the front adds to the illusion, and of course you'll get the matching riser - the artwork on which lines up perfectly with the main machine. Use the riser to add another foot or so to the machine's height - so you can choose whether to play standing or seated on a stool. Battle TIE Fighters in super-smooth hi-res action, skim the surface of Hoth, or settle into the Death Star trench run, and remember - the Force is with you.
