At the start of the series, Tsubasa Ohzora, a lonely boy bitter but not obsessed with football, was an elementary school student who had just moved to the town of Nankatsu with his mother. As his mother revealed, He was saved by his soccer ball in a truck crash when he was barely able to walk. Therefore, Tsubasa Ohzora's motto is The ball is my friend.

Because their old school did not have a soccer team, the family thus decided to move to Nankatsu, to join the Shutetsu Primary School, which was the national soccer champion.
